Ways to Volunteer
The spirit of volunteerism and global partnership is the main source of support for building the Nkabom Centre. There are many ways to volunteer. At the present time, the greatest area of need for volunteers is fundraising to get the buildings built and furnished. Other tasks for volunteers outside of Ghana include:
- Selling African merchandise that goes to fund the Centre
- Holding AIDS awareness events to heighten awareness of people around the world to the needs in Africa
- Gathering equipment to build a public toilet in the village of Okurase
- School letter writing to get the word out
- Talking to people and companies about the project to get the buildings furnished
Once the Centre is built, volunteer opportunities will change to that of direct work with children and parents in the school, workshops, performance studios, dining area, and outdoor and indoor recreation. Other volunteer opportunities are in gardening and farming, cleaning buildings, cooking, and caring for animals.
